This group is designed for rising 1st grade students to build on the foundational skills established in kindergarten. Focus 1 reinforces the basics of the alphabetic principle and then takes off! Lessons emphasize advanced phonemic awareness, decoding, encoding, and applying these skills to decodable texts.

This program is designed for rising 2nd grade students to build on the foundational skills developed in first grade. Focus 2 dives deeper into spelling rules and syllable types while helping students build stamina for reading longer texts.

Instruction is tailored to the pace of each student.

This program is designed for rising 3rd grade students to strengthen and expand on the skills developed in previous years. Focus 3 provides opportunities to build automaticity with decoding and encoding skills learned in Focus 2. Instruction is tailored to the pace of each student, making it appropriate for most third graders.

Looking for one-on-one support? We use a structured literacy approach based on Orton-Gillingham principles, which are evidence-based and systematic. This method focuses on phonology, sound-symbol correspondence, syllables, morphology, syntax, and semantics. We assess each student’s strengths and needs, tailoring instruction to support their growth over the summer.
